New Labour official policy: Muslims deserve everything they get

Hazel Blears, the minister responsible for counter-terrorism, said yesterday that Muslims will have to accept as a "reality" that they will be stopped and searched by the police more often than the rest of the public.

Ms Blears told MPs that "there was no getting away from it", because the terrorist threat came from people "falsely hiding behind Islam".

This, by the way, would be the same straight-talking Hazel Blears who arranges evangelical courses to "re-energise" Labour activists with the Party's underlying "moral values", presumably including the demonisation of minorities and the destruction of civil rights. Blears is also famous for announcing that New Labour would "be in power for decades", an end to which she, as a Home Office Minister, is assidiously working in a startlingly direct fashion.

Meanwhile, as if it matters:

Statistics showed that of the 17 people found guilty of terrorist acts since 9/11 in the UK, only four of the 12 whose ethnic backgrounds were known were Muslim, Mr Shadjareh [of the Islamic Human Rights Commission] said.
